About the Opportunity

Our client, a large national organization in the HVAC and skilled trades space, is seeking a high-impact Recruiter to support a surge in hiring initiatives. With operations across Canada and a wide range of technical roles, this is an opportunity to contribute directly to building frontline teams that keep communities running.

You will join a collaborative team of recruiters during a peak hiring period, taking ownership of the heavy sourcing and pre-screening function. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where quality, compliance, and partnership with hiring managers are essential.

What’s In It for You

This is a chance to sharpen your sourcing expertise in a competitive talent market. You will work alongside experienced recruitment professionals in a supportive, team-based environment that values clear processes, strong communication, and results. If you thrive in a setting where speed and precision go hand in hand, this role will challenge and elevate your skills.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll manage over 30 active requisitions at a time, primarily focused on skilled trades roles such as licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, and apprentices.
  • You’ll implement proactive sourcing strategies, leveraging LinkedIn, Indeed, networking, referrals, and Boolean search techniques to attract both active and passive candidates.
  • You’ll headhunt talent from competitors and adjacent industries including construction, manufacturing, and transportation.
  • You’ll establish screening criteria and conduct structured pre-screens and behavioral competency-based interviews using defined scoring matrices.
  • You’ll partner consultatively with hiring managers to develop recruitment timelines, align on candidate profiles, and deliver qualified shortlists.
  • You’ll track key recruitment metrics including time to fill, sourcing effectiveness, and stage progression, ensuring all data is accurately maintained in the ATS.
  • You’ll contribute to continuous improvement by identifying innovative sourcing channels and sharing best practices with the recruitment team.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of progressive talent acquisition experience, ideally within skilled trades or an adjacent industry.
  • Demonstrated success managing high-volume requisitions while meeting or exceeding hiring targets.
  • Strong sourcing and headhunting expertise, including proficiency with Boolean search and internet mining techniques.
  • Experience conducting behavioural and competency-based interviews with structured evaluation methods.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with ATS platforms, Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, Indeed, and other recruitment tools. Experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident in presenting candidates and advising hiring managers.
