Job Description
Our federal government client require the services of a licensed Psychiatrist to support offenders released in the Community and still under the care and responsibility of the institution.
Location of work: St. John's Newfoundland
Tasks (including but not limited to):
- Assess and treat individual offenders;
- Participate in discharge and release planning as requested;
- Provide consultation to other health care providers to ensure continuity of care. This includes providing consultation to community mental health service providers and the prescribing physician if the offender is residing in the community;
- Provide consultation and advice on mental health services to the mental health team and institutional management as requested;
- Provide educational sessions as requested;
- Participate in meetings including Health Professional Advisory Committees, case conferences and other related activities as requested;
Experience required:
- Hold a current license in good standing to practice psychiatry from the provincial licensing body for physicians and surgeons in the province where services are to be provided
- Minimum of 2 year of experience providing psychiatric care
- Considered an asset: providing psychiatric care (both assessment and treatment) to offenders within a correctional facility or community corrections at the provincial or federal level
