About the Opportunity

Our energy client is seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to provide support within the Supply Chain function for a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will manage complex procurement assignments, oversee contract development and administration, and maintain strong vendor and stakeholder relationships. This role requires deep technical knowledge of procurement for consulting services, engineered products, and construction projects, combined with strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

This is a hybrid position in Toronto, ON (3 days onsite, 2 days WFH).

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and coordinate procurement activities for consulting services, engineered products, and construction services across multiple initiatives
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and contracts in alignment with corporate policies and governance requirements
  • Review requisitions, technical specifications, and project schedules to ensure alignment with scope, technical needs, and delivery timelines
  • Lead sourcing activities, including preparing RFPs, evaluating submissions, negotiating commercial terms, and awarding contracts
  • Administer contracts end-to-end, including progress payments, change orders, claims, and commercial adjustments
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, acting as a key procurement advisor
  • Monitor supplier performance and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risk and support successful project outcomes

Qualifications:

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, or a related discipline; SCMP designation or equivalent preferred
  • Proven experience managing complex procurement and contracts for consulting services, engineered products, and construction projects
  • Strong understanding of sourcing strategies, contract administration, and supplier negotiations
  • Demonstrated analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and database tools
