Job Description

Our public-sector client is seeking an experienced Data Architect for a 4-month contract with a strong potential to extend. The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of a modern, cloud-based data architecture to replace legacy systems and support real-time analytics. This position is hybrid, with approximately one day per week onsite at the client’s head office in the Lower Mainland.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a cloud-based operational data platform to replace legacy systems.

  • Lead data migration efforts from on-premise or outdated databases into modern cloud environments.

  • Develop data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) and ensure they align with governance and compliance standards.

  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration processes using modern cloud tools.

  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to align architecture with reporting and analytics needs.

  • Ensure data security, scalability, and quality through best practices and documentation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in Data or Cloud Architecture roles.

  • Strong experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT development, and data modeling.

  • Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP (Azure preferred).

  • Experience modernizing legacy data systems into cloud or hybrid environments.

  • Familiarity with data governance, MDM, and metadata management frameworks.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
