About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity to step into a critical Accounts Receivable role supporting a large, mission-driven public sector organization that plays an essential role in building healthy, sustainable communities across Ontario. You’ll join a collaborative finance team during a key transition period, providing stability, accuracy, and continuity while covering a leave.

In this role, your work directly supports reliable financial operations that enable essential services to continue without disruption. You’ll work closely with finance leadership and analysts in a fast-paced but structured environment, where reliability, attention to detail, and sound judgment are highly valued. This is an ideal contract for an AR professional who enjoys owning their work and making an immediate impact.

What’s In It for You

You’ll benefit from a role that offers structure, clarity, and strong work-life balance, with standard hours and minimal overtime outside of year-end. This environment supports learning and development, with hands-on system training and ongoing support from a knowledgeable finance team.

You’ll also gain experience within a large, well-established public sector organization known for innovation, advanced technology, and long-term career pathways. For strong performers, there is meaningful potential for contract extension and future opportunities.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll manage end-to-end Accounts Receivable processes, including billing, invoicing, cash application, and collections.
  • In this role, you’ll reconcile AR sub-ledgers to control accounts and investigate discrepancies independently.
  • You’ll analyze aged receivables, follow up on overdue accounts, and resolve billing and client account issues.
  • You’ll prepare monthly and year-end billing statements and support reconciliation activities.
  • You’ll collaborate with financial analysts to support margin analysis and investigate variances.
  • You’ll provide guidance or training to internal staff on billing, collections, and AR processes as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of hands-on Accounts Receivable or billing experience in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong accounting fundamentals with proven reconciliation and collections experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Great Plains is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive accounts tactfully.
