About the Opportunity

Our client, a large enterprise organization operating in a mission-critical public sector environment, is seeking a hands-on FinOps Engineer to support cloud financial management initiatives with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, finance, and product, helping teams better understand, manage, and optimize cloud spend through data-driven insights and automation.

You’ll be part of a collaborative delivery team where FinOps is treated as a product, not just a reporting function. The work directly supports operational efficiency, financial accountability, and sustainable cloud growth, making this an impactful role for someone who enjoys blending technical delivery with business outcomes.

What’s In It for You

You’ll gain exposure to enterprise-scale Azure environments while working in a role that values practical delivery and measurable impact. This opportunity offers hands-on engineering work, meaningful collaboration across teams, and the chance to deepen your FinOps expertise in a structured, mature cloud environment. The hybrid setup supports balance while maintaining close connection with the delivery team.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll analyze Azure usage and spend to identify and implement cost optimization strategies such as rightsizing, reservations, and waste reduction.

  • In this role, you’ll design and maintain Python-based ETL pipelines to collect, transform, and aggregate cloud cost and usage data.

  • You’ll build and enhance Grafana dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights into cloud spend and optimization opportunities.

  • You’ll contribute to backlog planning and delivery in Azure DevOps, working closely with the FinOps Product Owner.

  • You’ll automate FinOps workflows including tagging enforcement, anomaly detection, and cost allocation processes.

  • You’ll collaborate with engineering, finance, and procurement teams to support budgeting, forecasting, chargeback, and governance initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, FinOps, or a related role, with hands-on Microsoft Azure experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of Azure services, billing, and cost management tooling.

  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and scripting.

  • Experience building dashboards and reports using Grafana.

  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for backlog and workflow management.

  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Parquet is considered an asset.
