Job Description

Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid, on-site at least part-time)
Language: English, required for both written and spoken communication
Duration: Contract, 8 to 12 weeks (starting March 2026)
Background Check Requirement: Eligible for a Reliability clearance
Pay rates: $75-120/HR

About the Opportunity

Altis is proud to partner with a national, mission-critical organization to recruit an experienced AI Strategy Consultant to help shape and mature its enterprise AI vision. This engagement sits at the intersection of innovation, governance, and organizational change, with a clear mandate to enable responsible and sustainable AI adoption.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders, business stakeholders, and technology teams to assess current AI maturity, refine governance models, and develop a clear, actionable roadmap. This is a highly visible initiative where your work will directly influence executive decision-making and long-term organizational direction.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead discovery sessions to assess AI maturity across people, process, and technology.
  • You’ll review and evaluate existing AI governance structures, workflows, and oversight models.
  • You’ll benchmark current practices against industry standards and peer organizations.
  • You’ll identify gaps, risks, and capacity constraints, translating them into clear recommendations.
  • You’ll develop an AI vision, operating model, and phased roadmap spanning short- and long-term priorities.
  • You’ll facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to drive alignment and adoption.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in technology strategy, digital transformation, or AI advisory roles.
  • Proven expertise in AI governance, responsible AI, and enterprise risk management.
  • Strong experience developing executive-ready strategies, roadmaps, and operating models.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage senior leaders and translate complexity into clear decisions.
  • Experience benchmarking organizations against industry best practices.
  • Background in regulated or safety-critical environments is considered an asset.
