Terminology Standards Specialist - Healthcare
Our leading digital healthcare client is looking for a Standards Specialist to join their team.
Our client works together with different levels of government, has created a plan called the Shared pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap. This plan outlines various products needed to make health information systems work together smoothly, and they need help developing these products with government and industry partners. The National Release Center (NRC) is the main place where the basic health language and standards used in Canada are shared.
Compensation: $95,000 – 105,000 salary, 9-15% bonus, 8% RRSP, benefits etc
Location: Preferably Montreal or Toronto with the option for on-site work 2 days per week. 100% Remote work is also available.
Responsibilities:
- Provide general standards and terminology expertise, implementation support, and guidance on various digital health standards, including SNOMED CT, LOINC, and HL7 code systems.
- Enhance core standards by facilitating change requests to the appropriate Standards Development Organization.
- Support the development, maintenance, and publication of the Canadian Edition of SNOMED CT (English and French).
- Coordinate and provide quality assurance for collaborative authoring of internal and external resources.
- Coordinate translation teams nationally and internationally to ensure high-quality, rule-compliant products.
- Participate in Standards Community meetings, representing pan-Canadian needs at national and international standards forums.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of educational materials as needed.
- Collaborate on enhancing the internal suite of tools required for daily NRC activities.
- Develop standards-related deliverables supporting the Interoperability Roadmap, aligning with Product Owners as necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Good working knowledge of SNOMED CT, LOINC, UCUM, ICD, and HL7 code systems.
- Significant experience in standards development within complex enterprise information systems, preferably in healthcare.
- 5+ years of experience in implementing and working with Reference Terminology Standards.
- Experience in tool implementations: JIRA, Confluence integration, SQL, Terminology Server, SNOWSTORM, etc.
- 3+ years of experience in working with SNOMED CT.
- Applied FHIR implementation experience.
- Clinical experience is an asset.
- Technical writing skills are a major asset.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Nice to Have:
- Bilingual in French and English.
- MBA or MSc is an asset.
- SNOMED CT Authoring Certification is an asset.
- FHIR certification is an asset.
