Job Description

Our leading non-profit client in the education industry is looking for an Azure Developer to join their team on a 6 month term. The role will operate on a flexible hybrid model in their Markham office 2 days a week.

The successful candidate will understands our clients Azure needs and improve on the existing configuration, and laydown the foundation for future initiatives. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Review and assess the current state of the existing Azure environment. Identify gaps, deficiencies, and shortcomings based on current and future requirements.
  • Recommend, design, and implement a scalable, optimized, and cost-effective Azure cloud infrastructure that meets client needs.
  • Configure Azure services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL (or other database services), Azure Monitor.
  • Review and improve network connectivity on VPN and Azure DNS.
  • Review and implement proper Azure security and access control using Resource Groups, AAD, IAM, RBAC, Key Vault, Whitelisted ip's and other related service.
  • Develop and apply best practice methodology on backup, patching, disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
  • Enable adequate alerts and notifications for Azure activities.
  • Setup a data integration which brings data from a third-party application into the Azure storage.
  • Migrate on-prem Power BI server to Azure cloud.
  • Ensure information and knowledge of all work is shared with the internal IT team.
  • Provide on-the -job training and guidance, including knowledge transfer and Business As Usual handover, to other internal IT staffs on Azure-related topics.
  • Create and maintain proper documentation (infrastructure diagram/technical design/operational instruction) according to company standards
  • Provide technical support on Azure-related issues.
  • Work with the project team on developing data governance policies and procedures.

Skills and Experience: 
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in Microsoft Azure cloud computing
  • Experience in developing and implementing Azure-based solutions
  • Experience in infrastructure and cloud security 
  • Working knowledge of Azure features and services (VM, SQL, Monitor, Networking, Blob Storage, Gateway, Data Factory etc)
  • Demonstrated experience on implementing Azure security and compliance solutions (Resource Groups, AAD, IAM, Key Vault etc)
  • Technical certifications in Azure is a requirement
  • Ability to drive project deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
