Senior Payroll Advisor
We are currently recruiting for one of our well established clients in financial services in GTA for a highly skilled Senior Payroll Advisor. It is full time permanent position offers a unique hybrid working model(3 days in office, 2days home), providing flexibility and a balance between remote and in-office work.
As the Senior Payroll Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payments to all employees. Your responsibilities will include managing deductions, remittances, and reporting in compliance with legislation. Additionally, you will handle employee benefits enrollments, process payroll-related payments, and prepare various reports as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Process and audit semi-monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Review and approve online changes related to payroll in accordance with established guidelines.
- Input and audit all entries in the payroll system, verifying employee data, benefit enrollments, and earning/deduction codes.
- Review and validate time entries, including overtime, unpaid time, retro pay, and other variables, ensuring adherence to policies.
- Collaborate with managers, leaders, and employees to address any payroll inquiries or issues.
- Administer benefit provider RRSP plans, including enrollment, changes, terminations, and remittance.
- Support and provide training to other team members to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Reconcile payments for legislated deductions, benefits premiums, and voluntary employee benefit plans.
- Allocate payroll/benefit-related expenses to the general ledger through monthly journal entries.
- Prepare quarterly payroll benefits reports and perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliation.
- Generate and track reports for year-end preparation, including Health Care Spending forfeitures and ASO benefits trends.
- Stay up to date with legislative requirements and communicate updates to employee data as needed.
- Reconcile monthly remittances, track T2200 information, and ensure accurate and timely issuance of T4, T4A, and RL-1.
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment review, annual reenrollment process, and monthly auditing.
- Fulfill audit responsibilities, mitigate risks, and support external annual audit processes.
- Coach and mentor team members, identify training needs, and guide development opportunities.
- Maintain awareness of business unit goals, procedures, and leverage payroll processes and HR technologies for efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in a payroll role.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

- Proven relationship-building skills.
- Exceptional customer service mindset.
- Self-driven and motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Demonstrates integrity and takes responsibility for actions.
- Certified Payroll Professional certification preferred(PCP OR CPM OR PLP pursuing or certified)
- College Diploma.
Nice-to-Haves
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with UKG(Ultipro) software.
