About the Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping corporate planning, risk management, and financial reporting within a small, high-impact finance team of a federal Crown corporation. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, including the VP and Director of Finance, providing detailed analysis, strategic advice, and actionable recommendations that influence decisions across the organization. Your work will directly contribute to transparent reporting to Parliament and improve financial and risk processes that support both government-funded and self-sufficient departments.

In this role, you’ll lead the design, development, and improvement of financial and risk management processes. You’ll take ownership of complex projects, from policy and report writing to risk assessments and process enhancements. If you thrive in independent, high-responsibility environments where attention to detail matters, this role offers an exciting challenge with meaningful impact in the public sector.

What’s in it for You

You’ll join a collaborative, people-focused team where your expertise and recommendations are valued and acted upon. This role offers exposure to federal governance, public sector finance, and corporate risk management, providing growth opportunities and mentorship from experienced finance leaders. You’ll be part of a workplace that encourages autonomy, celebrates precision, and supports professional development while making a tangible impact on government operations.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead the corporate performance and risk management processes, engaging with management and stakeholders to define risks, track progress, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • You’ll develop, improve, and maintain finance process documentation, including reporting, planning, and budgeting procedures, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • You’ll act as Project Lead for finance initiatives, applying structured project management principles to plan, coordinate, and deliver projects independently.
  • You’ll provide analysis and strategic advice to senior leadership, supporting decision-making across corporate planning, risk, and performance management.
  • You’ll monitor progress against corporate objectives and quarterly reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and attention to detail.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive finance experience in risk management, financial analysis, or audit, ideally within a federal Crown corporation or public sector environment
  • University degree required; CPA designation and/or Masters in Finance, Economics, or related field is an asset
  • Strong experience in policy writing, report writing, and technical documentation
  • Deep knowledge of governance, Treasury Board regulations, and corporate planning principles
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently in a small team and manage multiple priorities with high accuracy
  • Bilingualism is a plus
