Job Description

Our Federal Government client is seeking a Bilingual Strategic Communications Coordinator to work on contract supporting a national intergovernmental Council, Working Groups, and Task Teams by developing and delivering internal and external communications strategies, enhancing visibility, and fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholders.

Tasks

  • Develop and implement a strategic communications and engagement plan with clear priorities, audiences, methods, and performance metrics

  • Coordinate communication activities and products across multiple working groups and teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness

  • Draft and edit communication materials including reports, key messages, press releases, and web content to support strategic priorities and public engagement

  • Monitor emerging issues, identify potential risks, and propose proactive communication approaches to address contentious topics

  • Maintain and update website content and explore additional channels such as social media to expand audience reach

  • Advise internal teams on communications best practices and strengthen internal cohesion among diverse partners

  • Conduct analyses of current communication activities to identify gaps, reduce duplication, and improve efficiency

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, industry leaders, and media to promote initiatives and build public understanding of sector issues

  • Track communications metrics, gather feedback, and adjust strategies and products based on evaluation

  • Support event-related communications and contribute to the planning and execution of outreach initiatives

  • Attend meetings, provide editorial expertise, and ensure all communications align with organizational priorities and messaging

Qualifications

  • University degree (preferred) or College/CEGEP diploma in a relevant field, with additional professional certifications considered an asset

  • At least five (5) years of experience leading strategic communications for collaborative initiatives involving federal, provincial, or territorial governments

  • Demonstrated experience delivering both internal and external communications and public relations projects, including strategy development, content creation, and stakeholder engagement

  • Minimum of  five (5) years’ experience developing and implementing communications plans in geographically and organizationally diverse settings

  • Strong understanding of issue management, proactive media engagement, and public outreach techniques

  • Experience fostering cohesion among partners with differing perspectives and achieving coordinated messaging

  • Familiarity with the natural resources sector, particularly in the past 5 years, is considered an asset

  • Fluency in English and French, with the ability to produce professional communications in both official languages

  • Valid security clearance at the reliability level 

  • Ability to work remotely with occasional in-person participation
