Active Directory Consultant
Our broader public sector client, is seeking an Active Directory and Certificate Services Specialist to join their team!
Key Details:
- Contract Length: 12 months
- Location: HYBRID - Mississauga, ON.
Project Details: As an Active Directory and Certificate Services Specialist, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of an upgraded Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) and Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) infrastructure. In addition, you will also be responsible for planning and executing Active Directory consolidations. This role requires a deep understanding of Active Directory and Certificate Services, in addition to strong communication skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement updated AD CS infrastructure on new servers and updated Windows Server operating systems
- Strategize and update signature algorithm on root certificate authority
- Update and design resilient certificate template configuration including CRL, OCSP, AIA
- Account for and mitigate impacts to web applications throughout upgrade process
- Design and implement updated AD DS infrastructure on new servers and updated Windows Server operating systems
- Plan and perform Active Directory server transition, considering any schema and forest/functional level upgrades while managing all associated downstream impacts
- Collaborate with other IT teams to gather application authentication requirements and Directory Services integration
- Plan and execute Active Directory consolidations, including domain migrations, forest consolidations, and restructuring.
- Lead testing and validation of both Certificate Services and Active Directory infrastructure
- Administer and support Active Directory infrastructure, including user and group management, Group Policy, and security settings.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of applications and services.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Windows System Administrator.
- Extensive experience with Active Directory Domain Services and Certificate Services.
- Proven experience performing AD consolidations, including domain and forest migrations.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server operating systems and related technologies.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Configuration Manager.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice to Haves:
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
- Associate, Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate, or similar.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with cloud identity platforms such as Entra ID or Okta.
