Job Description

We are thrilled to partner with a national non-profit group dedicated to transforming Indigenous medical education and promoting the delivery of culturally safe care.

We're searching for a Communications and Community Engagement Specialist with extensive experience working with Indigenous communities, demonstrated experience working with diverse Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and a proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships.

This is a full-time position and can be performed remotely.


Preference may be given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis. However, this role is open to all qualified candidates.

What you'll do:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to enhance our reach and impact.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and key stakeholders.
  • Content Creation: Create engaging content for various channels, including newsletters, social media, and website.
  • Public Relations & Media: Manage our public presence and media relations, including media coaching, press releases, and requests for response. 
  • Event Planning: Organize and execute impactful events and webinars.
  • Data Analysis: Track and analyze key metrics to measure the effectiveness of our communication efforts.

Who you are:

  • Experienced Communicator: Possess 4+ years of experience in a communications or marketing role.
  • Indigenous Health Advocate: Have a deep understanding of Indigenous health issues and cultural sensitivities.
  • Creative Thinker: Excel at developing innovative communication strategies.
  • Strong Relationship Builder: Thrive in collaborative environments and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Digital Savvy: Proficient in social media, content management systems, and digital marketing tools.
