Job Description

We are seeking a Case Specialist, Disability Management on an 18-month contract with our client in the Health care sector. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting employee recovery and facilitating return-to-work plans, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and empathetic management of disability claims. You will work within a small, dynamic team of occupational health and safety professionals dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace while maintaining operational efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on employee extended absences and related inquiries.
  • Partner with third-party insurers to manage claim activities and facilitate the return-to-work and medical accommodation processes.
  • Develop and implement creative return-to-work strategies, including modified work programs or permanent accommodation arrangements.
  • Prepare absence and metrics reports, identifying trends for internal stakeholders and making recommendations.
  • Collaborate with HR business partners to plan and implement new procedures, training, and compliance monitoring.
  • Work closely with department leadership to enhance employee experiences and streamline partnerships.
  • Process claims in compliance with disability legislation, internal policies, and collective agreements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in absence disability claims management and return-to-work principles in a unionized environment.

Education

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Kinesiology, or allied health/rehabilitation sciences is preferred.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language

Nice-to-Haves

  • Certification as a Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTW) is an asset.
