Job Description

Join the friendly, supportive, and well-established team with our client, a distinguished litigation boutique renowned for its exemplary work in high-stakes legal matters. We're seeking a dynamic team player to fill this Accounting Clerk role on a hybrid working model, spending three days per week in the office in the heart of Downtown Toronto. 

Reporting directly to the COO, you'll handle a diverse array of responsibilities crucial to the smooth functioning of the firm. Your primary focus will be providing adept accounting support, particularly in managing trust accounts and payroll. 

Job description: 
  • Manage bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing, including accurate posting.
  • Conduct a monthly reconciliation of payroll records to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Oversee annual T4 preparations and filings, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Administer employee benefits, handling both new hires and terminations with efficiency.
  • Facilitate wire transfers and corresponding ledger entries, maintaining precise records.
  • Process client credit card payments accurately, reflecting transactions in the ledger.
  • Provide backup support for bank reconciliations, ensuring financial integrity.
  • Day-to-day management of trust transactions, liaising with firm members to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of trust accounts, upholding financial transparency and accountability.
  • Offer backup support for Accounts Payable/Receivable processing, maintaining smooth financial operations.
  • Perform monthly subledger reconciliations, identifying and rectifying discrepancies.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable and WIP efficiently, contributing to the firm's financial stability.

Must haves: 

  • Minimum of  3 years of accounting experience within professional or legal services.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline. 
  • Experience and expertise in payroll management.
  • Familiarity with Law Firm Trust accounting practices,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Be adept at multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all accounting processes.
  • Proactive, self-driven approach to work, capable of operating effectively with minimal supervision.
