Job Description

Our client, a prestigious accounting firm in the Ottawa area, is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team on a full time permanent basis. In this environment, our client promotes work life balance, flexible work environment to reward hard working & motivated individual's. 

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Senior Staff Accountant you'll be instrumental in bolstering our assurance engagements and providing top-notch financial services to our clientele. Your key duties will involve:   
  1. Executing assurance and accounting tasks, including necessary tax filings, utilizing our advanced paperless office setup and allocated resources.
  2. Supervising junior staff members during assurance and accounting projects.
  3. Addressing and resolving any issues that arise during assurance and accounting engagements.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Progressive Accounting Experience: We require a minimum of 2 years of advancing experience in public accounting, along with successful completion of CPA exams.
  2. CPA, CA Designation: Candidates should possess a CPA, CA designation, or be actively progressing towards fulfilling the required hours for certification.
  3. Audit and Assurance Proficiency: A robust background in audit and assurance is crucial for excelling in this position.
  4. Client-Centric Approach: Demonstrating an ability to offer value-added services to our clients, showcasing dedication to their success, is essential.
  5. ASPE Knowledge: Proficiency in Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) requirements is a prerequisite.
  6. Software Competence: Experience with Caseware and Taxprep software is highly valued.
  7. Deadline-Oriented: A solid grasp of a client-centric environment, including awareness of relevant deadlines, and the ability to consistently meet them, is imperative.
  8. Confidentiality and Discretion: Candidates should exhibit sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive matters.
  9. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are expected.
  10. Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail are vital in all tasks and responsibilities.
  11. Team Player: We seek individuals with a strong work ethic, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
