Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Corporate Accountant to join our client's team in the real estate and asset management sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of corporate accounting duties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role involves performing various accounting tasks, including full-cycle accounting procedures, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable processing, and utility expense tracking. The Corporate Accountant will also assist in inter-company billings, HST returns, audit responses, financial statement preparation, and payroll remittances. Additionally, the candidate will provide support for various administrative tasks, contributing to the efficient operation of the accounting department.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of corporate accounting responsibilities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform monthly full-cycle accounting procedures for corporate entities.
  • Reconcile bank statements and conduct other balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reconcile Visa and credit card transactions.
  • Process accounts payable (AP) invoices efficiently and accurately.
  • Pay non-AP utility invoices and enter utility invoices promptly for up-to-date records.
  • Track, reconcile, accrue, and analyze utility expenses for informed decision-making.
  • Prepare inter-company billings and reconciliations.
  • Complete accurate and timely HST returns.
  • Assist management in responding to audit requests.
  • Assist with financial statement roll-forward and preparation.
  • Handle payroll remittances in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support various administrative tasks, including calendar updates, meeting deadlines, and property updates.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation or in progress is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in corporate accounting, preferably in the real estate industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accounting principles.
