Job Description
Our Public Sector client (Transportation) is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join their team for a 6-month contract term. This is a hybrid opportunity offering the flexibility of working 3x/week from home and 2x/week in the Downtown Toronto office.
Candidates for this position MUST hold an active Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation. Experience processing payroll in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Bi-weekly payroll processing for both unionized and non-unionized employees.
- Verify and audit time and labor data, ensuring adherence to privacy protocols.
- Investigate and resolve initial payroll discrepancies in collaboration with Payroll Analysts.
- Analyze and verify Human Resources employee data, updating payroll-related information.
- Process employee payments, documentation, and legislated deductions, including tax changes, court orders, Record of Employment requests, grievances, and Pension Plan requirements.
- Address employee questions regarding Collective Agreement and HR Policies related to payroll.
- Regularly communicate with Human Resources staff to provide payroll information, reports, and clarification for employees.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner certificate (PCP) from the Canadian Payroll Association is mandatory.
- 2+ years experience processing payroll.
- Experience in a unionized environment (asset).
