Job Description
Our client in the real estate space is looking for a Senior Property Accountant. This position will be reporting to the Manager of Property Accounting and Financing, maintenance of accounting records for a number of commercial, industrial and multi residential properties as well as preparation of budgets and financial statements.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Compiling and analyzing monthly operating statements.
- Collaborating with property managers on variance analysis.
- Creating year-end financial statements and organizing working paper files.
- Generating monthly management fees, bank reconciliations, rent rolls edit lists, and HST returns.
- Conducting annual year-end reconciliations of CAM & Realty tax charges.
- Producing rental advice notices for upcoming fiscal year charges for commercial tenants.
- Addressing inquiries from various departments and external auditors.
- Preparing and reconciling tenant statements.
- Approving new/renewal tenant lease charges and generating leasing fee invoices.
- Developing budgets, including tenant revenue schedules.
- Crafting quarterly reporting packages for externally owned properties.
- Assisting and guiding accounts payable personnel as needed.
- Undertaking other assigned projects.
Qualifications and Skills
- University / College Degree
- Professional accounting designation (CPA)
- 5+ years of relevant Property Accounting experience
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Yardi Voyager Accounting System experience strongly preferred
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent analytical skill
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Proactive approach to responsibilities
- Must be very flexible and adapt to various demands as required
- Attention to detail
- Supervisory experience required
