Job Description

Altis Recruitment is grateful to partner with an organization within the Broader Public Sector to support the recruitment of an Accounting Clerk out of their Mississauga office. This a permanent opportunity is working in an on-site capacity 5 days a week with a 7.5 hour work day. The organization has flexible working hours anywhere between starting 830am - 9am and ending between 430 - 5pm. This opportunity will be responsible for processing invoices, responding to vendor queries and working alongside 2 other members of the accounting team. 

Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Process AP invoices, cheque requisitions, and expense claims weekly
  • Ensure timely generation of vendor payments through Cheques/EFT
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of AP
  • File and maintain AP documents/paper trail for Annual audit

Accounts Receivable

  • Provide comprehensive support for Accounts Receivable, including processing invoices, applying payments and deposits
  • Reconcile daily credit card receipts
  • Follow up with customers regarding outstanding payments

Others

  • Prepare month-end in-house expense report for submission to the General Accountant
  • Support General Accountant in balance sheet reconciliations and account balance reporting, as requested
  • Assist during the annual audit
  • Maintain records of vacation days, sick days, and other days reporting
  • Perform other assigned accounting duties

Required experience:

  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • A meticulous individual with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and analytical aptitude, capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently and independently managing small projects.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues. • Proficiency in virtual meeting software (e.g., Zoom/Microsoft Teams).
  • Highly skilled in Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous hands-on experience with Accounting Software, preferably Sage 300 or MS Dynamics.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality service.
  • Possession of a College Diploma or University Degree in Business, Accounting/Bookkeeping, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
