Bilingual Executive Director
Altis Recruitment is grateful to partner with an organization in Ottawa within the Broader Public Sector to support the recruitment for a Bilingual Executive Director. The successful candidate will lead and drive organizational efforts to bring positive and lasting change within the organization. Working in the Education sector, reporting to the Executive Committee, this position involves strategic thinking, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and hands-on involvement in daily operations. The Bilingual Executive Director will also serve as the organization's representative to its partners. This opportunity is located in Downtown Ottawa, working in a hybrid capacity with 3 days a week being on-site. The hours of work are from 8:30am - 4:30pm, working a 35 hour work week. This opportunity requires the successful candidate to have professional communication, both written and verbal, in French and English.
Job Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Manage and lead a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Committee, providing regular updates on organizational performance, strategic initiatives, and community impact outcomes.

Strategic Planning and Reporting:
- Report progress on organizational short- and long-term objectives to the Executive Committee.
- Advise and assist in matters related to stakeholder portfolios and mandates.
- Support the executive committee in governance matters and participate in executive meetings and provide advice on strategic and organizational planning.

Professional Development and Human Resources Management:
- Foster professional growth and development among staff, promoting a culture of learning and innovation.
- Ensure effective management of human resources, including recruitment, performance evaluation, and talent retention.

Financial Management and Compliance:
- Manage and monitor budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize expenses
- Ensure organizational compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.
- Assist in the preparation and administration of the annual budget, support annual audit, and ensure overall financial health.

Employee Benefits and Labor Relations:
- Administer employee benefits, health plans, and insurance plans.
- Attend labor management meetings, collaborate with the Labor Management and Human Resources Advisor, and negotiate collective agreements and manage grievances and disputes

Stakeholder Relations:
- Proactively manage relationships with stakeholders to further organization objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key community stakeholders.

Office Operations:
- Oversee all tasks related to office operations and carry out other tasks as needed
- Post secondary education in public administration, public policy, management, or equivalent
- Minimum 5+ years of management experience
- Experience working within a unionized environment
- Experience overseeing a team of Managers
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Demonstrated ability in building and maintaining positive relationships
- Hands on experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders at every level
