Medical Laboratory Technologist
Our client in the Healthcare industry is seeking a Medical Lab Technologist to join their team on a part-time and permanent basis. This role will require availability for 5 shifts every two weeks with availability Monday-Sunday for hours 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices, you will receive, store, and manage blood and fractionation products, while also maintaining a stock of distribution supplies.
• Applying your knowledge and training in laboratory safety practices, you will ensure the safety of blood products through continuous monitoring of product and storage equipment, including temperature and humidity variations.
• Leveraging your effective communication skills, you will issue blood and related products to customers, including Provincial Hospitals and other blood centers.
Regular communication with hospital teams regarding placed orders is an integral part of this role.
• Utilizing your organizational and time management skills, you will perform batching and packing of orders based on priority and time of delivery.
Qualifications:
• Completed post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably with a specialty in Transfusion Medicine or Immunohematology.
• Registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
• Demonstrate proficiency in current Transfusion Medicine practices and trends, with specific knowledge of blood and blood product utilization.
• Possess strong organizational, analytical, and effective problem-solving skills.
