School Library Technician
The School Library Technician plays a vital role in supporting the school's educational mission by assisting in the management and operation of the school library. They work closely with the Head Librarian and collaborate with teachers to provide students with access to a wide range of educational resources. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for literature, exceptional organizational skills, and a strong commitment to fostering a love for reading and learning.
Pay rate: $17.50/hour
Contract: ASAP - June 28th, 2024
Hours: 8am-4pm.
Key Responsibilities:

Circulation Services:
- Assist students and staff in locating, borrowing, and returning library materials.
- Maintain accurate records of library resources and circulation transactions using library management software.
- Oversee overdue notices and follow up with students and teachers regarding overdue materials.

Collection Management:
- Catalog and process new library materials, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information in the library database.
- Perform regular inventory checks and conduct weeding activities to maintain a relevant and current collection.
- Collaborate with the Head Librarian to select and acquire new materials based on curriculum needs and student interests.

Reference and Information Services:
- Provide assistance to students and staff in locating and using print and electronic resources.
- Assist with research inquiries and guide students in using digital databases, reference materials, and other research tools.

Technology and Multimedia Support:
- Maintain and troubleshoot library equipment, including computers, printers, scanners, and audiovisual resources.
- Provide basic technical support to students and staff using library technology.

Library Environment and Space Management:
- Ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming library space conducive to learning and research.
- Arrange displays to showcase new acquisitions, thematic materials, or student work
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Vulnerable Sector Check (required)
- Experience working in a library or educational setting (preferred).
- Proficiency in library management software and basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Passion for promoting literacy and a love for reading.
