Senior Property Accountant

Position Overview:
As a Senior Property Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a diverse portfolio of commercial properties within the GTA. Your role will involve ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the company's financial objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for commercial properties, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Account Reconciliation: Conduct detailed account reconciliations, including bank accounts, rent rolls, and general ledger accounts.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of property budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with financial goals.

Yardi Software: Utilize Yardi software to maintain property accounting records, track expenses, and generate reports.

Tenant Billing: Handle tenant billing and rent collection processes, addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies.

Audit and Compliance: Facilitate property audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.

Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis, variance analysis, and provide insights to support decision-making.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of property accounting experience in the commercial real estate sector.
- Proficiency in Yardi software is required.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Nice-to-Haves
- CPA designation or progress towards it is an asset.
