About the Opportunity
Are you a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes, and making a meaningful impact? We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join a growing organization in the restoration and real estate sectors. This is an opportunity to lead day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities while helping strengthen financial reporting and support business growth.
Reporting to the CFO, you'll work closely with project managers, operational leaders, and executives to deliver accurate financial insights and drive improvements. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on autonomy, enjoys solving complex accounting challenges, and wants to make a visible difference.
What's In It for You
• A permanent, full-time opportunity with competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
• Direct exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to take ownership of a growing accounting portfolio.
• A collaborative, hands-on environment where your expertise and ideas are valued.
• Opportunities to strengthen financial processes, influence decisions, and grow professionally.
Your Responsibilities
• You'll lead month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis across multiple entities.
• You'll oversee job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
• You'll manage AP/AR, billing, collections, and rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts.
• You'll oversee property accounting, including rent rolls, PADs, intercompany transactions, and partners' capital.
• You'll coordinate year-end financial statements, external accounting engagements, corporate tax filings, and HST compliance.
• You'll partner with operational leaders to improve financial controls, reporting accuracy, and accounting processes.
Skills and Qualifications
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction, restoration, real estate, or project-based environments.
• CPA designation or active CPA candidacy strongly preferred.
• Strong experience with ASPE financial reporting, month-end close, AP/AR, billing, and external review or Notice to Reader engagements.
• Advanced QuickBooks Online and Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, cost-to-complete accounting, revenue recognition, and multi-entity reconciliations and eliminations.
• Working knowledge of Canadian corporate tax and HST requirements. Property accounting, PADs, ADP payroll, WSIB, and union remittances are assets.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the discretion and independence to manage competing priorities.
