About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading global investment management organization, is seeking a Manager, Trade Operations to lead a hands-on back-office settlement and treasury operations team supporting its Credit business.

This is not a traditional Middle Office or oversight-only management position. The successful candidate will remain directly involved in trade settlement, SWIFT payments, cash movements, reconciliations, failed trades and exception resolution, while leading and developing the Trade Operations team.

The ideal candidate has built their career within back-office securities operations or trade settlements, with strong hands-on experience supporting Fixed Income transactions and processing cash and wire payments.

What’s In It for You

You’ll join a sophisticated global investment environment with exposure to Fixed Income, syndicated loans, derivatives and treasury transactions. This is an opportunity to combine your technical settlement expertise with people leadership while helping improve processes, controls and automation.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll actively process and oversee Fixed Income and credit trade settlements from affirmation and matching through funding and final settlement.

  • You’ll execute and review SWIFT payments, including MT103 and MT202 messages, wire settlements, cash movements and treasury transactions.

  • You’ll investigate and resolve failed trades, settlement breaks, cash discrepancies, position differences and payment exceptions.

  • You’ll work directly with custodians, brokers, counterparties, banks and settlement agents, including global settlement infrastructure such as DTCC, Euroclear and Clearstream.

  • You’ll lead and coach Trade Operations professionals while remaining hands-on during daily processing, escalations, high-volume periods and coverage gaps.

  • You’ll support reconciliations, operational controls and account maintenance across custody, banking and settlement platforms.

  • You’ll identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve settlement efficiency and operational controls.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in back-office Trade Operations, Securities Operations or Trade Settlements within an institutional investment, asset management, banking or custody environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience processing and settling Fixed Income transactions, with exposure to syndicated loans, credit products or derivatives considered an asset.

  • Hands-on experience with SWIFT payment processing, particularly MT103 and MT202 messaging, wire payments and cash movements.

  • Strong understanding of settlement mechanics, reconciliations, failed trades, exception management and cash funding.

  • Experience working with custodians and global settlement infrastructure such as DTCC, Euroclear, Clearstream or CDS.

  • Previous experience leading, supervising or acting as a senior escalation point for an operations team.

  • Experience improving operational processes through automation, system enhancements or workflow redesign.

Who This Role Is Best Suited For

You may currently be a Trade Operations Manager, Settlement Manager, Securities Operations Manager, Investment Operations Manager, Trade Settlement Team Lead or Senior Trade Operations professional ready for your next leadership opportunity.

Your experience should be primarily within post-trade/back-office operations rather than Front Office trading, Product Control or a purely Middle Office function.

Note from the Hiring Manager

“We’re looking for someone who has actually done the work. You should be comfortable leading a team, but equally comfortable getting into a settlement break, reviewing a SWIFT payment or helping resolve a cash issue when needed.”
