About the Opportunity
Join a fast-growing Canadian fintech organization helping small business owners access convenient and trusted financing. As Lead, Insolvency and Agency Management, you’ll take ownership of complex recovery files that have moved beyond day-to-day collections, including insolvencies, legal recoveries and accounts managed by external partners.

Reporting to the VP of Collections, you’ll collaborate closely with Collections, Legal, Finance and Risk while serving as a trusted subject matter resource. This is an opportunity to shape recovery practices, strengthen vendor performance and build expertise within a collaborative team, with the potential to grow into people leadership as the organization expands.

What’s In It for You
You’ll join a collaborative, growth-oriented workplace where your expertise and ideas can make a meaningful impact. Along with competitive compensation and comprehensive health benefits, you’ll have access to education and learning benefits, team events and monthly Lunch and Learns, plus the flexibility of a remote-first environment.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll manage commercial insolvency files involving bankruptcies, proposals, receiverships and CCAA proceedings, including Proofs of Claim, creditor documentation and key deadlines.
• You’ll assess security positions, guarantees, PPSA registrations and recovery options to recommend strategies based on expected return, cost and risk.
• You’ll own relationships with collection agencies, law firms, investigators, skip tracing providers and other recovery vendors, monitoring SLAs, recovery rates and cost-to-collect.
• You’ll oversee legal and guarantor recoveries, coordinating litigation, enforcement, settlements and asset searches with internal and external partners.
• You’ll take ownership of escalated accounts and help establish clear hand-off, settlement, legal escalation and write-off practices.
• You’ll mentor Collections team members on insolvency, skip tracing and complex recovery matters.
• You’ll produce and interpret recovery reporting, identify trends and recommend opportunities to improve performance.

Skills and Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in commercial collections, recoveries, insolvency, special assets or financial services.
• Strong working knowledge of Canadian insolvency processes, including the BIA, CCAA and the roles of Licensed Insolvency Trustees and receivers.
• Experience managing collection agencies, law firms or other recovery vendors, including setting and enforcing performance standards.
• Experience with commercial lending, fintech, merchant cash advance or small-business credit portfolios is preferred.
• Understanding of personal guarantees, secured lending and PPSA, including their application to merchant cash advance agreements, is an asset.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation and vendor-management skills, with the ability to evaluate recovery options based on expected return, cost and risk.
• Experience with CRM, lending or collections management systems is preferred, while mentoring or coaching experience and French-language fluency are assets.
