About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced HR professional to step into a hands-on leadership role within a mission-driven non-profit organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, you’ll provide leadership across people services, labour relations, employee experience, and workplace culture while supporting an organization focused on making a meaningful community impact.
You’ll work closely with leaders, employees, union representatives, and external partners to navigate complex people matters with care and professionalism. With one direct report, you’ll balance strategic guidance with day-to-day HR delivery, helping create a respectful, inclusive, and well-supported workplace.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll lead core HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, attendance management, and offboarding.
• You’ll advise leaders on employee relations, collective agreement interpretation, management rights, and HR policies.
• You’ll investigate workplace complaints and grievances, prepare responses, facilitate conflict resolution, and support collective bargaining.
• You’ll oversee HR programs and systems, benefits administration, WSIB matters, return-to-work plans, and departmental SOPs.
• You’ll champion an inclusive workplace culture through employee engagement, training, talent development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
• You’ll support health and safety committees and coordinate required employee training.
Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of progressive HR experience with a related university degree, or 5+ years with a related college diploma.
• Demonstrated HR and labour relations experience within a unionized environment is required.
• Experience in a non-profit, healthcare, government, or similar complex, people-focused environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario’s ESA, OLRA, OHSA, WSIA, Human Rights Code, and Pay Equity Act.
• CHRP designation is considered an asset.
• Experience with employee benefits, HR programs, workplace investigations, grievances, and labour relations.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills, with sound judgment when handling confidential matters.
