Senior Full Stack Developer

This role sits within a national research-focused organization and supports a critical web application that enables appropriate access to computing resources and services.

Working closely with a DevOps Manager, internal technology teams, leadership, vendors, and distributed partners, you’ll help evolve systems supporting account lifecycle management, resource allocation, identity management, and reporting. You’ll join a highly collaborative, remote environment where technical excellence, continuous learning, and thoughtful problem-solving are valued.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll design, develop, and maintain front-end and back-end functionality for business-critical applications.
• You’ll write clean, reusable code and improve existing and legacy systems while minimizing service disruption.
• You’ll maintain a Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL software environment, including bug fixes, security updates, and patches.
• You’ll optimize applications for performance, scalability, responsiveness, reliability, and security.
• You’ll implement robust testing practices, participate in code reviews, and help strengthen development standards.
• You’ll collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business and reporting requirements into maintainable solutions.
• You’ll support identity management, APIs, reporting functionality, and resource allocation architecture.

Skills and Qualifications
• 7+ years of progressive full-stack or professional software development experience.
• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of relevant skills and experience.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments, Git or similar version control, MVC frameworks, SQL, and relational databases.
• Web development experience with JavaScript, CSS, and AJAX.
• Familiarity with automated testing and testing frameworks such as RSpec.
• Experience with two or more programming languages, with Ruby on Rails experience considered a strong asset.
• Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, time-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in a distributed environment.
