Accounting Subject Matter Expert

Contract: 3 months, with potential for extension
Hours: 30–40 hours per week

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Accounting professionals for a fully remote project where you will apply your technical accounting expertise, analytical skills, and professional judgment to specialized project work.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals with strong industry, public practice, or academic experience who are comfortable interpreting complex financial information, applying accounting principles, and exercising sound professional judgment.

Work can be completed throughout the week, allowing you to manage your own schedule while meeting project requirements and deadlines.

What You'll Do

Depending on your area of expertise, you may:

• Review and evaluate complex accounting and financial information
• Apply accounting principles to specialized assignments
• Analyze financial statements, calculations, and business scenarios
• Assess information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
• Identify errors, discrepancies, or areas requiring further consideration
• Interpret and apply relevant accounting standards and principles
• Work through technical accounting and quantitative problems
• Provide clear, well-reasoned written responses
• Follow detailed project guidelines and quality standards
• Complete work independently while managing your own schedule

What We're Looking For

We're looking for individuals who bring:

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a closely related field
• At least three years of professional accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial statements
• Familiarity with IFRS, U.S. GAAP, or other applicable accounting standards
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent written communication skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• The ability to interpret complex information and exercise sound professional judgment
• Comfort working in a remote, self-directed environment

Experience in areas such as financial reporting, audit and assurance, technical accounting, taxation, corporate accounting, controllership, internal controls, cost accounting, or management accounting is considered an asset.

A professional accounting designation such as a CPA, CA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent international designation is considered a strong asset.
