About the Opportunity
This is an exciting permanent opportunity for a Building Systems Operator / Building Systems Technologist to join a fast-paced healthcare environment where reliable building operations directly support patient care, staff safety and comfort. You’ll play an important role in keeping critical mechanical and building systems operating safely and effectively.
Working alongside an experienced facilities and plant services team, you’ll maintain essential equipment, respond to operational needs and help ensure building systems consistently meet required parameters. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem solving and contributing to a collaborative team.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll operate building systems according to established parameters for safety, comfort and operational requirements.
• You’ll perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on air handling units, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, compressors and other mechanical equipment.
• You’ll work on physical plant and rolling stock equipment as directed by management and supervisors.
• You’ll identify operational issues, troubleshoot problems and prioritize work requests in a fast-paced environment.
• You’ll provide scheduled and short-notice shift coverage when required, including 12-hour rotating day, night and weekend shifts.
Skills and Qualifications
• 2-3+ years of experience acting as a Shift Operator within a hospital or institutional setting
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience maintaining mechanical equipment in a hospital environment
• BES License is needed
• 4th Class Stationary Engineer designation or Building Systems Technologist background preferred
• Strong understanding of automated building systems and proven problem-solving abilities
• Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, perform the physical requirements of the role and maintain reliable attendance
