Senior Manager, Privacy & Assistant Privacy Officer

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Hybrid. The role requires 5 days on-site every 2 weeks, ideally on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays, with some flexibility.
Duration: 1-year contract-to-permanent opportunity, with a strong likelihood of transitioning into a permanent position.

About the Opportunity

Altis Recruitment is partnering with a leading Canadian loyalty and financial services organization to recruit a Senior Manager, Privacy & Assistant Privacy Officer. In this senior role, you’ll act as deputy to the Privacy Officer and help evolve a growing privacy program, strengthening governance, compliance, privacy-by-design, and risk management across the organization.

Working as part of a small, collaborative privacy team, you’ll partner with leaders across Legal, Technology, Data & Analytics, Marketing, Procurement, Member Services, and Partnerships. You’ll provide practical privacy guidance that helps teams innovate responsibly while protecting personal information and maintaining strong privacy practices.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll strengthen the organization’s privacy governance framework, policies, controls, metrics, monitoring, and compliance practices.
  • You’ll lead Privacy Impact Assessments and privacy-by-design reviews for new technologies, vendors, products, marketing initiatives, analytics, and AI use cases.
  • You’ll oversee privacy rights requests, complaints, incidents, breaches, investigations, risk assessments, and remediation.
  • You’ll act as deputy to the Privacy Officer, providing practical guidance to business and technology stakeholders.
  • You’ll assess third-party privacy risks and support vendor due diligence and contractual privacy requirements.
  • You’ll develop privacy training and prepare materials for senior leadership and governance committees.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive privacy, data protection, privacy governance, risk, or related experience.
  • Strong experience conducting and overseeing Privacy Impact Assessments and privacy-by-design reviews.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of privacy governance, incident and breach management, regulatory compliance, and privacy risk.
  • Experience advising stakeholders on technology, data, analytics, AI, vendors, and emerging privacy considerations.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex privacy requirements into practical business guidance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business, public policy, information management, technology, risk management, or a related discipline. CIPP/C or equivalent privacy certification is an asset.
