About the Opportunity
An organization delivering a major infrastructure project is looking for a seasoned Recruitment and HR professional to provide hands-on support during a particularly busy period. This is a high-impact contract for someone who knows how to look beyond the surface of a resume, ask thoughtful questions and help hiring managers make confident people decisions.
You’ll join a collaborative, good-humoured team working in a fast-paced, high-pressure project environment. With significant hiring underway across project controls, construction, commercial and quality functions, your HR judgment will be just as important as your recruitment experience.
What’s In It for You
This is an opportunity to bring your expertise to a high-profile infrastructure project where your judgment will be trusted and valued. You’ll work closely with experienced leaders, gain exposure to specialized technical hiring and join a supportive team that maintains a collaborative culture, even during demanding periods.
Your Responsibilities
• You’ll review applications and identify potential concerns, inconsistencies, employment gaps and other areas requiring further discussion.
• You’ll conduct efficient phone screens covering compensation expectations, eligibility to work in Canada and key HR considerations.
• You’ll partner with hiring managers to review candidates and determine who should progress through the recruitment process.
• You’ll participate in interviews, bringing a critical HR lens to candidate fit, risk and potential red flags.
• You’ll conduct thorough reference checks and escalate concerns appropriately.
• You’ll provide regular recruitment updates and help keep hiring activity moving during a time-sensitive project period.
• You’ll use LinkedIn Recruiter and other relevant channels to support recruitment activities as required.
Skills and Qualifications
• 8–10 years of progressive recruitment or HR experience preferred, with strong independent judgment in candidate assessment.
• 5+ years of HR experience in a unionized environment may also be considered, particularly where you’ve developed strong employee relations and risk-assessment skills.
• Demonstrated experience screening, interviewing and reference checking candidates, with the confidence to recommend when someone should not move forward.
• Strong critical thinking skills and a healthy sense of professional skepticism when evaluating candidate histories and potential concerns.
• Experience recruiting within infrastructure, construction, engineering, project controls, commercial or quality environments is considered an asset.
• Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter and working closely with hiring managers in a fast-moving recruitment environment.
• Comfort working independently in a busy, high-pressure setting while remaining collaborative, approachable and solutions-focused.
