Step into a key leadership role as a Payroll Operations Manager, where you’ll help ensure payroll services are accurate, compliant and continuously improving. Reporting to the Director of Payroll Services, you’ll collaborate closely with Finance, Human Resources, IT and internal stakeholders to deliver seamless payroll operations and an excellent client experience.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with people leadership, problem-solving and change management. You’ll guide a high-performing team, navigate complex payroll matters and help strengthen processes, systems and services across a dynamic, highly regulated organization.

You’ll lead accurate, timely and compliant payroll operations while fostering a collaborative, client-focused team.
You’ll provide technical guidance on complex matters, including taxable benefits, severances, retiring allowances and special payments.
You’ll ensure compliance with payroll legislation, collective agreements, pension requirements, organizational policies and internal controls.
You’ll oversee reconciliations, reporting, journal approvals and third-party payment processes.
You’ll partner across HR, Finance and IT on system enhancements, testing and evolving business requirements.
You’ll identify opportunities for automation, workflow redesign and process improvements that strengthen service delivery.
5+ years of progressive accounting and payroll experience, including previous management or leadership experience.
University degree in Business Administration or equivalent, plus a PCP or CPM payroll designation.
Expert knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations, taxation, pension administration and related requirements.
Experience interpreting collective agreements within a unionized environment.
Strong systems knowledge, including enterprise HRIS and payroll applications, with PeopleSoft preferred.
Excellent analytical, communication, coaching and problem-solving skills, paired with sound judgement and discretion.
