About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Tax to join a large, complex organization operating in a high-volume environment. This role is focused primarily on indirect tax compliance, including GST/HST and provincial sales taxes, with significant responsibility for the systems, processes and controls that support accurate tax collection, remittance and recovery.
You’ll provide leadership across tax compliance, technology and process improvement while partnering with teams across the business. This is an opportunity for an experienced tax professional who enjoys solving complex issues, interpreting legislation and developing people while strengthening the processes behind a sophisticated tax function.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll oversee day-to-day indirect tax compliance, reporting, controls, remittances and recoveries, with a strong focus on Canadian sales taxes.
• You’ll lead tax-related system implementations and updates, ensuring accurate tax capture, testing, controls and documentation.
• You’ll research complex tax issues and legislation, assess business impacts and recommend practical solutions to senior leadership.
• You’ll manage government tax audits, coordinating analysis, supporting documentation and responses to inquiries.
• You’ll partner with Finance, Technology and other stakeholders to identify tax implications associated with new programs and business initiatives.
• You’ll improve tax policies, processes and systems while maintaining strong procedural documentation and internal controls.
• You’ll lead, coach and develop direct reports, setting goals and supporting ongoing performance and professional growth.
Skills and Qualifications
• 5+ years of progressive tax experience, including hands-on indirect tax compliance and people leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian GST/HST and provincial sales taxes, including PST and QST, with hands-on tax research experience.
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply complex tax legislation to business transactions and processes.
• Proficiency with SAP and tax engines such as Vertex or an equivalent platform, including exposure to tax-related systems and process changes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly.
• CPA designation and experience within retail or another high-volume transactional environment are considered assets.
