As a Project Accountant, you'll play an essential role in supporting complex projects by ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, and aligned with project goals.

Working closely with project managers, procurement professionals, vendors, and accounting teams, you'll help keep projects moving by managing financial processes, supporting project controls, and providing valuable reporting insights. Your Responsibilities

  • You'll review project financial documentation, including invoices and payment requests, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • You'll verify billing rates, calculations, contract compliance, cost-to-date reporting, supporting documentation, and statutory requirements, including WSIB clearances.
  • You'll collaborate with vendors, procurement, and project teams to investigate invoice discrepancies and validate change order billings against approved records.
  • You'll manage electronic invoice approval workflows, process consultant rate increases and new personnel additions, and ensure timely coding within the ERP system.
  • You'll prepare project accruals, allocate overhead costs, support project closeout activities, and generate financial and cost reports.
  • You'll assist with audits, respond to ad hoc financial inquiries, and contribute to continuous improvements in project accounting and controls.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or project accounting within a large organization.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with project costing and job costing, ideally within the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction industry.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics 365 is considered an asset.
  • Experience with construction accounting or consulting environments is considered a strong asset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
