About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a hands-on Materials Supervisor to join a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment in Newmarket. You’ll lead a team of 8–9 employees responsible for ensuring the right parts are picked, tracked and delivered where they need to be, helping keep production running smoothly.
This is not a desk-based supervisory role. You’ll be visible on the production floor, supporting your team, responding to changing priorities and catching issues before they affect production. With custom manufacturing comes variety, so this opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems and leading through change.
What’s In It for You
• $28–$29/hour, with flexibility for highly qualified candidates
• Long-term contract-to-permanent opportunity, with direct permanent hire potentially considered for the right candidate
• Consistent 7:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule, 42.5 hours per week
• Opportunity to work in a dynamic automotive manufacturing environment
• Hands-on leadership role where your decisions directly impact production success
Your Responsibilities
• You’ll supervise and support a team of 8–9 employees responsible for picking and moving materials for production.
• You’ll monitor daily operations to ensure the correct parts are picked and available when production needs them.
• You’ll communicate changing requirements to your team and help employees adjust quickly to production priorities.
• You’ll troubleshoot material, inventory and system issues while keeping operations moving.
• You’ll use ERP/MRP systems to support material and inventory processes.
• You’ll remain active on the floor, stepping in to support picking and material-handling activities when required.
Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of supervisory or team-lead experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with automotive experience strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with materials, inventory, production supply, picking or material flow
• Experience using an ERP or MRP system, with SAP experience considered a strong asset
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with operational data
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail and ability to manage changing priorities
• Lean Manufacturing, 5S and IATF 16949/TS 16949 exposure are considered assets
• Forklift certification, shipping/receiving experience or related material-handling experience are assets
