Structural Drafter with Tekla

Altis Recruitment is partnering with an established and growing organization within the engineering and construction sector to recruit an experienced Senior Structural Drafter.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned drafting professional who brings strong Tekla Structures and AutoCAD expertise and enjoys working on technically complex structural projects. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, drafting professionals and external project partners to produce high-quality construction and fabrication drawings.

The position offers the flexibility to work fully remotely or in a hybrid capacity, with occasional travel or in-office meetings as required.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Drafter, you will play an important role in supporting projects from design development through fabrication. Responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing architectural, structural and other project documentation to understand project requirements and identify potential drafting issues.
• Developing detailed plans, elevations, sections and construction details in collaboration with engineers, project managers and other members of the project team.
• Producing accurate general arrangement and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures, AutoCAD and BIM models.
• Developing fabrication drawings for structural components and specialty elements.
• Coordinating drawing requirements with internal teams, external drafting partners, structural steel suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Identifying and helping resolve drawing conflicts and discrepancies before they impact fabrication or construction.
• Reviewing drawings prepared by junior drafting professionals and external drafting partners to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Maintaining organized drawing records, revisions and release histories.
• Working closely with project teams to support project and fabrication schedules.
• Communicating drawing revisions and changes to relevant members of the project team.
• Ensuring drawings consistently meet established drafting and quality standards.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

• A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or another relevant technical discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of structural drafting experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Tekla Structures.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of engineering, structural and construction drawings.
• Experience producing detailed fabrication drawings and working with BIM models.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Revit or other 3D modelling software would be considered an asset.
