Job Description

Location: Milton, ON, On-site 2 days per week (apprix 16 hours)
Language: Strong written and spoken English required
Duration: Long-term part-time contract opportunity

About the Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join a well-established, family-run organization that has been operating for more than 30 years. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who takes genuine ownership of the books, enjoys getting into the details, and wants to become a trusted part of a close-knit team.

Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with a long-standing external CPA, you’ll oversee day-to-day bookkeeping while helping modernize accounting processes, including an upcoming QuickBooks migration. With plenty of moving parts across the organization, you’ll be someone the team can count on to keep things accurate, organized, and moving forward.

What’s In It for You
You’ll join a stable, collaborative business that values long-term relationships and gives trusted team members meaningful autonomy. You’ll have your own office, work closely with senior leadership and an experienced CPA, and play an important role in improving systems and processes.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including AP, ACH payments, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, fixed assets and prepaids.
• You’ll support the migration from QuickBooks Desktop to a newer QuickBooks Enterprise environment, ensuring clean and accurate financial data.
• You’ll process manual payroll and complete CRA calculations and source deduction submissions.
• You’ll prepare tax remittances, month-end activities, T4s and year-end working papers while partnering with the external CPA.
• You’ll maintain vehicle costing entries, foreign exchange transactions and dealership-related accounting records.
• You’ll oversee administrative requirements for approximately 10 tenants, including annual increases, payments and related documentation.
• You’ll support regulatory requirements, government inquiries and occasional office management or customer-facing needs.

Skills and Qualifications
• 10+ years of progressive Canadian bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting experience.
• Advanced QuickBooks experience, including hands-on migration or implementation experience.
• Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and working confidently with financial data.
• Automotive dealership experience is strongly preferred, along with knowledge of OMVIC requirements.
• Strong knowledge of payroll, HST, WSIB, EHT, QST, corporate tax and other government remittances.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a forensic mindset and a commitment to keeping accurate, audit-ready books.
• A flexible, proactive approach and confidence communicating with customers, tenants, government agencies and external accounting partners.
