About the Opportunity

This is a chance to step into a hands-on Senior Accountant role where your work directly supports meaningful, community-focused programs. You will join a collaborative finance team within a mission-driven, not-for-profit organization that operates in a fast-paced, funded environment with diverse programs and revenue streams.

Working closely with program leaders and fellow finance professionals, you will help ensure financial accuracy, transparency, and strong stewardship of funds. Your ability to connect the numbers to real-world impact will matter here, as you support informed decision-making across multiple funding models and contracts.

What’s in it for You

You will be part of a team that values curiosity, accountability, and collaboration. This is an environment where learning is encouraged, technology is evolving, and your ideas around efficiency and process improvement are welcomed. You will gain exposure to complex funding structures, new financial systems, and leadership that is invested in your professional growth.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • You will prepare and review general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet accounts.
  • You will analyze variances between budget, forecast, and actuals, providing clear narrative insights to leadership.
  • You will support reporting across multiple programs, grants, and restricted funding streams.
  • You will investigate discrepancies, apply appropriate accounting standards, and communicate solutions with non-finance stakeholders.
  • You will act as a go-to resource for junior accountants, providing guidance, oversight, and escalation support.
  • You will support audit readiness, internal controls, and external reporting requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of progressive accounting experience in an operational accounting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration.
  • Currently pursuing or near completion of a CPA designation.
  • Strong experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Exposure to program funding, grants, or restricted funds, not-for-profit or public sector experience is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort learning new financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Clear communicator who can work effectively with both finance and non-finance teams.

Note from the Hiring Manager

“We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, curious about the business, and comfortable rolling up their sleeves. If you enjoy problem-solving, learning new systems, and supporting others, you’ll thrive on this team.”
