About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior DB2 for i Operations DBA to support a large, enterprise-scale IBM i environment. In this hands-on role, you will help maintain the availability, stability, security, recoverability, and performance of mission-critical business applications.

You will work closely with application, infrastructure, and database operations teams to diagnose complex issues, strengthen operational practices, and improve database performance. This is an opportunity to act as a trusted technical advisor while helping teams adopt sustainable IBM i and DB2 best practices.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll administer and support DB2 for i databases across production and non-production environments.
• You’ll monitor database health, capacity, availability, performance, and resource utilization.
• You’ll diagnose SQL, indexing, locking, CPU, memory, buffer pool, I/O, and workload management issues.
• You’ll administer IBM i journaling, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery environments.
• You’ll troubleshoot replication latency, synchronization failures, journal receiver issues, and recovery concerns.
• You’ll establish performance baselines, complete root cause analysis, and provide actionable tuning recommendations.
• You’ll maintain runbooks, operational standards, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer materials.

Skills and Qualifications
• 7+ years of progressive experience supporting DB2 for i, IBM i, iSeries, or AS400 environments.
• Advanced experience with SQL analysis, execution plans, Visual Explain, SQL Plan Cache, Index Advisor, PDI, IBM Navigator for i, ACS, STRSQL, and STRDBG.
• Strong knowledge of radix indexes, Encoded Vector Indexes, access paths, commitment control, and journal receiver management.
• Hands-on experience with MIMIX, PowerHA, iTera, Quick-EDD, or similar replication technologies.
• Experience with backup, recovery, HA/DR testing, capacity planning, and workload forecasting.
• Familiarity with CDC technologies, ITIL processes, and ServiceNow is preferred.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
