About the Opportunity

Our client, a respected public sector organization, is seeking an experienced Supervisor, Accounting Services to provide leadership during a critical period of transition. This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact role where you'll support essential financial operations, lead a dedicated accounting team, and help ensure business continuity during quarter-end and budget planning.

Working closely with the Controller and cross-functional stakeholders, you'll oversee full-cycle accounting activities, mentor a team of finance professionals, and contribute to process improvements that strengthen financial reporting and operational excellence. Your Responsibilities

  • You'll lead a team of up to nine accounting professionals, providing coaching, workload management, and day-to-day operational leadership.
  • You'll oversee full-cycle accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end responsibilities.
  • You'll coordinate quarter-end, year-end, and audit deliverables, preparing financial analyses and supporting working papers.
  • You'll partner with internal stakeholders to provide accounting guidance, resolve complex issues, and ensure compliance with financial policies and legislation.
  • You'll identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the effective use of financial systems and technology.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory, management, or project leadership responsibilities.
  • CPA designation required, along with a post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Strong full-cycle accounting experience with expertise in financial reporting, reconciliations, and transactional accounting.
  • Experience leading teams, coaching employees, and balancing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
