About the Opportunity
Are you a payroll and benefits professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with exceptional employee service? We are recruiting for an experienced Pay and Benefits Advisor to join a respected post-secondary institution, where you'll play an integral role in delivering accurate payroll, administering comprehensive benefits programs, and supporting HR technology initiatives that enhance the employee experience.

Working closely with leaders and cross-functional partners, you'll serve as a trusted advisor on payroll, compensation, benefits, and HRIS processes while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and collective agreements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing operational excellence with process improvement in a collaborative, people-focused environment.

What’s In It for You
Join an organization that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. You'll have the opportunity to strengthen payroll and benefits operations, contribute to meaningful HRIS initiatives, and work alongside a dedicated team that values professional development, employee well-being, and service excellence.

Your Responsibilities
• You'll prepare and reconcile payroll for approximately 300 unionized employees, ensuring compliance with collective agreements while completing pension, government, union, and statistical reporting accurately and on schedule.
• You'll oversee the administration, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the HRIS, including system upgrades, implementation projects, reporting, and employee data integrity.
• You'll provide trusted guidance to managers and employees on payroll, benefits, compensation, leaves of absence, and other employment-related matters.
• You'll administer employee benefits programs, disability management, return-to-work initiatives, and payroll reconciliations while ensuring compliance with legislative and contractual requirements.
• You'll support the employee lifecycle by processing new hires, coordinating onboarding activities, facilitating orientation, and guiding employees through benefits enrollment.
• You'll develop and maintain HR procedures, operational documentation, and records management practices while supporting audits and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications
• 5+ years of progressive human resources experience with a strong focus on payroll and benefits administration.
• Bilingual (French/English), with strong written and verbal communication skills in both official languages.
• Postsecondary education in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification, or equivalent, is required.
• Experience leading or supporting HRIS implementation or enhancement projects is considered a strong asset.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, employment standards, privacy legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, and collective agreement administration.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and HR information systems, supported by strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
• Excellent organizational, communication, project management, customer service, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage confidential information and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Note from the Hiring Manager
"We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex payroll and HRIS challenges while delivering an exceptional employee experience. If you're collaborative, detail-oriented, and passionate about continuous improvement, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our team and the people we support."
