About the Opportunity
This is a newly created permanent opportunity with an established organization looking for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of day-to-day payroll operations. You’ll join an HR team during an exciting period of change as they transition from ADP to Dayforce, allowing a key team member to focus on implementation while you keep payroll running smoothly.
Approximately 80% of your role will focus on payroll, with the remaining 20% supporting HR administration. You’ll manage full-cycle payroll across multiple payroll companies and approximately 250 employees, working with hourly, salaried, and commission-based populations.
What’s In It for You
You’ll step into a role where you can take genuine ownership while still having an experienced team member available for collaboration and support. You’ll also gain exposure to a major HRIS implementation, broaden your HR experience, and work with a team that values accuracy, accountability, and strong internal service.
Your Responsibilities
• You’ll manage the full biweekly payroll cycle, including timesheet audits, payroll processing, reconciliations, remittances, and reporting.
• You’ll process payroll changes including new hires, terminations, leaves, compensation updates, deductions, garnishments, vacation, overtime, and statutory holidays.
• You’ll oversee year-end activities including reconciliations, T4 preparation, statutory reporting, and payroll-related accounts.
• You’ll maintain accurate employee and payroll information within HRIS and payroll systems while supporting testing, reporting, troubleshooting, and data validation.
• You’ll administer benefits and RRSP contributions and support onboarding, offboarding, employee records, and HR reporting.
• You’ll respond to employee payroll and benefits questions with professionalism, discretion, and a service-focused approach.
Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of progressive, hands-on full-cycle payroll experience, with the ability to independently own the payroll process.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now or another large payroll and HRIS platform. Dayforce exposure is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario and Quebec payroll legislation, employment standards, taxation, remittances, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with payroll reconciliations, year-end processing, T4s, and government remittances.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation, or progress toward it, is considered an asset.
