Language: English required for professional written and verbal communication. French is considered an asset.
Duration: 6-month contract
About the Opportunity
A financial services organization is seeking an intermediate Data Analyst to lead an application integrity scoring initiative focused on fraud detection, data quality and risk identification. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys exploring complex datasets, questioning what the data is showing and translating patterns into practical business rules.
You’ll work closely with teams across analytics, customer platforms, compliance, lending operations and technology. Your work will help the organization identify suspicious activity earlier, improve application quality and build a more consistent, data-informed approach to risk management.
What’s In It for You
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-impact initiative from discovery through implementation. You’ll gain exposure to fraud analytics, business intelligence, rule-engine design and financial services operations while working in a collaborative environment that values curiosity, critical thinking and practical problem-solving.
Your Responsibilities
• You’ll assess the end-to-end application process and identify key data entry, modification and override points
• You’ll analyze historical application data to uncover anomalies, inconsistent fields and unusual behavioural patterns
• You’ll develop approximately 25 to 100 testable rules that support an application integrity scoring model
• You’ll use Excel and SQL to profile data, validate findings and investigate potential risk indicators
• You’ll design scoring logic, severity levels and action thresholds based on identified patterns
• You’ll collaborate with business, compliance and technical teams to document requirements and support implementation
• You’ll contribute to dashboards, audit trails and reporting used by risk and management teams
Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence or a related analytical role
• Strong SQL skills, with Trino or Hive experience considered an asset
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to interpret, challenge and communicate data findings
• Experience creating business rules, scoring logic or analytical frameworks
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
• Financial services, lending, underwriting or banking product experience is preferred
• Fraud analytics experience is an asset, but not required
