This is a 12 months contract with potential to convert to permanent as a Systems Engineer role combines systems engineering discipline with hands-on software development, digitalization, automation, and practical AI implementation.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll lead or support the design and implementation of ECMS digital solutions from requirements through deployment and operational handover
• You’ll develop, test, document, and maintain software tools, back-end services, APIs, databases, integrations, automation services, and workflow components
• You’ll identify and implement practical AI use cases, including intelligent search, information extraction, classification, summarization, and knowledge retrieval
• You’ll define system requirements, architecture, interfaces, data flows, test evidence, and technical documentation while maintaining traceability
• You’ll apply source control, peer review, automated testing, release management, configuration management, and secure software practices
• You’ll support FMEA, verification, commissioning, risk management, user acceptance testing, training, adoption, and issue resolution
• You’ll provide technical direction and stakeholder guidance while managing assigned work against scope, schedule, budget, quality, and performance objectives
Skills and Qualifications
• Demonstrated engineering and software experience, supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
• Hands-on experience building software tools, applications, back-end services, integrations, or automation solutions
• Proficiency in at least one modern back-end programming language, with experience using APIs, databases, data models, and source control
• Practical experience developing, integrating, or deploying AI or machine-learning-enabled solutions, including evaluation and production considerations
• Experience translating business and engineering needs into requirements, architecture, interfaces, designs, test evidence, and maintainable documentation
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, privacy, data governance, software quality, and responsible AI, with cloud, CI/CD, containerization, RAG, LLM, NLP, or intelligent search experience considered an asset
• Professional Engineering licence in Ontario, or eligibility and active progress toward licensure, is an asset, along with experience using IBM DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Jama Connect, or similar requirements-management tools
