Job Description
Our client, a well-established and respected engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Building Envelope Drafting Technologist to join its growing team. This is a newly created, strategic position designed for someone who wants to become the technical drafting specialist for the firm's Building Envelope practice.
Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you'll play a key role in the development of construction drawings for building rehabilitation and restoration projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for building envelope systems who enjoys collaborating on technically challenging projects involving high-rise residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare detailed construction drawings for building envelope rehabilitation and restoration projects, including roofing, glazing, cladding, waterproofing, and exterior wall assemblies.
- Develop and maintain high-quality drafting standards, templates, and typical details that can be utilized across multiple projects.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and project teams to translate design concepts into accurate construction documentation.
- Revise and update drawings throughout all phases of a project, including design development, tendering, and construction.
- Coordinate drawing packages with multiple disciplines to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Support project teams by preparing technical documentation and responding to drawing revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in drafting processes, standards, and quality.
What We're Looking For
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Building Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 2–5+ years of drafting experience, ideally focused on building envelope or architectural projects.
- Strong understanding of building envelope systems, including roofing, cladding, glazing, waterproofing, air barriers, vapour barriers, and exterior wall assemblies.
- Advanced AutoCAD skills with the ability to produce detailed construction drawings.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
