As Engineering Manager, Controls, you will balance hands-on technical leadership with people management, working closely with cross-functional engineering, product, and design teams. You will play a key role in shaping technical strategy, mentoring a talented team, and delivering complex projects that have meaningful operational impact.

Your Responsibilities
• You'll provide leadership to internal engineering staff and external development partners, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• You'll build and develop the Controls and Electrical Engineering team through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and talent development.
• You'll oversee vendors, contracts, budgets, and engineering resources to ensure successful project execution.
• You'll guide the design, implementation, and lifecycle support of PLC, SCADA, and integrated control systems while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• You'll partner with Product Management and Engineering leadership to develop product roadmaps, business cases, and long-term innovation strategies.
• You'll engage with customers to define future controls system requirements and identify opportunities for service growth.
• You'll ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while driving continuous process improvement.
Skills and Qualifications
• 10+ years of post-graduate Controls Engineering experience, including at least 3 years managing Controls Engineers and Technicians and 8 years of combined leadership experience.
• Engineering degree with a valid P.Eng designation.
• Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLCs and Aveva InTouch SCADA systems.
• Strong knowledge of system integration, virtual machines, networking, cybersecurity, and industrial control systems.
• Excellent project management, budgeting, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated coaching, mentoring, and team development experience with the ability to make sound decisions in complex environments.
• Experience working within a regulated industry is considered a strong asset. Ability to travel internationally up to 10 to 60 days annually and maintain a valid Canadian passport.
