Job Description
Our client, a well-established and highly respected engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Project Engineer to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys balancing technical design, site investigations, client interaction, and project management while working on a diverse portfolio of existing buildings.
This is a priority hire, offering the opportunity to join a collaborative consulting environment where you'll work alongside experienced engineers and take ownership of projects from initial investigation through design and construction support.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Project Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading a variety of engineering assignments involving existing buildings and structural systems. Your work will include:
- Managing multiple projects from planning through completion.
- Conducting building investigations, structural assessments, and site reviews.
- Preparing technical reports, engineering analyses, and recommendations for clients.
- Developing structural designs, repair solutions, and construction documentation.
- Coordinating with architects, contractors, property managers, and building owners throughout project delivery.
- Providing construction-phase support and responding to site-related technical issues.
- Assisting with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource coordination.
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting collaborative project delivery.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys both the technical and client-facing aspects of consulting engineering.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
- Approximately 4–6 years of consulting engineering experience in structural or civil engineering.
- Experience managing small to mid-sized engineering projects.
- Strong structural design and analytical skills.
- Experience completing site investigations and preparing professional engineering reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence presenting technical recommendations to clients and project teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment while managing competing priorities.
Experience with building rehabilitation, structural restoration, or existing buildings is considered an asset, but candidates with broader structural consulting experience are encouraged to apply.
Why Join This Team?
This role offers far more than traditional structural design work. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of projects, collaborate with an experienced team of consulting engineers, and continue developing your technical and project management skills in a supportive environment.
The firm offers:
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Employer-matched pension program.
- Comprehensive health and dental benefits.
- Paid vacation.
- Mileage reimbursement for project-related travel.
- Long-term career growth within a respected engineering consulting practice.
